The Centennial Mural depicting the Alsea Indian people is now complete and on display on the south side of the Waldport Samaritan Clinic on Highway 101.  Port of Alsea Chairman John Johnson proposed the idea a number of months ago and the local community welcomed the idea.

Local artist Casey McEneny was chosen from a field of ten artists to do the mural.  McEneny worked diligently over the summer to paint the 10' by 48' mural.  McEneny said his mural depicts the earliest indigenous people of the left side, moving rightward toward a modern day tribal woman in ceremonial dress.  A formal dedication will take place Saturday, November 19th at 12:30 p.m.

The Port, the City of Waldport, and the Waldport Centennial Committee were the largest contributors to the project, with many citizens and businesses, as well as the Waldport Chamber of Commerce and th Economic Development Alliance contributing as well.  Donations are still needed to reach the goal of $21,300 to pay for the project.  For more information, contact Maggie Rivers, Port Manager, at the addresses below.
