Crabbing

Two people smiling, one holding a crab, at an outdoor event.

Crabbing is among the best in the state, and the bay also offers excellent salmon fishing and clamming.  Public docks for crabbing, fishing, and moorage, a launch ramp, day use park and picnic area, are among the facilities available in the Port area.  Many private marinas along the river provide similar services.

A license for all shellfish harvest, including bait shrimp harvest is required.

Anglers should check the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife regulations for current license requirements, limits, and species identification. We also suggest buying your license online before heading to see us, as ODF&W has changed the way licenses are issued. We expect some confusion as this is the first year they are not supplying booklets for us to issue licenses in person and on demand. If we must issue you a license digitally/online, it will slow down your experience.

Crabbing is easy, fun, and often rewarding! Let us help you catch your limit. Rent a Boat from us at the Dock of the Bay, we include the crab rings and bait!!

For Dungeness Crab:

  • 3 rings only per person
  • 5-3/4″ minimum size limit
  • Males only
  • 12 crab per person per day catch limit
